About SBC Youth Camps
At Somerset Beach Campground, we create an environment in which life-changing encounters with Jesus can take place throughout your child’s week at camp. They find a departure from their daily routine and distractions, and build lasting memories through exciting activities and loving relationships with mature staff dedicated to becoming more like Christ.
SBC campers have the opportunity to participate in many camp activities including swimming, boating, crafts, archery, hiking, hayrides and horseback riding. We also offer many unique games and activities including wet hayrides, slip ‘n slides, tubing, paintball and many more.
Camp schedules are created with the age group in mind. Our younger campers have a structured free time in which they rotate to free time activities with their counselors. Our older campers have more freedom to choose which free time activities they’d enjoy most. Whether they’re at Trailblazer Camp or Sr. Teen Camp, we’re sure they won’t get bored!
Each day, campers join together for singing and learning. This is a time when campers learn more about God and His Word. Campers also participate in room devotions with their counselors.
Our Staff
We work very hard to put together a great full-time summer staff. We hire staff who are mature, caring, and fun to be around! Each counselor will become a role model for our campers and we take that role very seriously. Our application process is extensive and each applicant is carefully screened with an application, references, background checks and interviews. Once we hire them, they train at our camp before campers arrive. There is a Health Officer on duty at our camp 24 hours a day. You can rest assured that when you send your children to SBC, you’re leaving them in good hands.
lodging and meals Youth campers at our youth and teen camps will stay in the Lakeside Lodges. Each lodge has eight rooms and each room has a bathroom, so the rooms are completely private. Approximately 8-10 campers and one counselor will stay in each room.
Our cooks strive to prepare healthy, well-balanced (not to mention delicious!) meals, including a salad and fruit bar. Our cooks prepare alternatives for campers with food allergies.
Day Camp Options
If your child isn’t ready for an overnight camp, don’t worry! No matter which camp you choose, any camper who chooses to go home each night and come back each morning can do so by having his or her parents sign him out at 9 PM each evening and drop him off at 8:30 AM each morning. If you live too far away for pick-ups and drop-offs, you may want to consider reserving a campsite in our R.V. Campground and staying for the week.
Parents wishing to have their child take advantage of the non-resident camping experience must pre-register for this option. You can check the “non-resident” box for the camp he or she would like to attend on the registration form.
Trail rides
Most campers will have the opportunity to take a trail ride during camp. Campers do not have to take the horsemanship class in order to have a horseback ride! More information about signing up for a trail ride will come within a few weeks of registration.
Activities
Swimming, boating, hiking, tennis, basketball, volleyball, crafts, new games, all kinds of sports, horseback riding, paintball, archery, tubing, waterskiing, fishing, riflery . . . and that’s just to name a few! We promise that campers will not get bored!
What to bring
After you register, you’ll receive a packet of information in the mail. This will include things like what to bring, how parents can write to campers, and more information about camp activities. This packet will also include a form which allows you to request which friends your camper would like as roommates. These forms will also be available online by the end of March.
Bringing Friends?
Campers are rewarded for bringing friends! For every friend they bring who has never been to an SBC youth camp before, they’ll receive a $20 Trading Post Gift Certificate ($5 for Day Campers) to be used during their week at camp! Just be sure that their friend lists your child as the person he or she was invited by on the registration form.
NOT Bringing Friends?
Don’t worry if your camper is coming alone! He won’t be alone for long! All campers are in cabins of one counselor and 8-10 other campers who will quickly become good friends. They’ll probably want to keep in touch all year!
