Explorer Camp 3 / Young Teen Camp 3
Our speaker this week was Heather Castle. Heather’s a youth pastor at Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church.
She spoke on the parable of the prodigal son and did a fantastic job of walking campers through each character of the story. On Monday, she focused on the Father and talked about how he represents God. God desires a relationship with his children and he is willing to seek us out and run after us to make that relationship possible.
On Tuesday, she looked at the younger son and drew parallels from his life to the life of Christians. As Christians we can still sin and wander away from the Father, but he waits and calls for us to come back. When we do, he forgives us and cleans us up.
On Wednesday, she looked at the older son and his response to his brother’s return. She helped campers understand the difference between obeying out of duty and obeying out of love.
Parents: Be sure to ask your camper about this parable and what he or she learned while at camp.
Students: Remember what Heather said on Thursday about going home, spending time with God and telling your friends.
